Here Are Some Helpful Tips For Your New Kitten!
Nutrition. Proper nutrition for your kitten today is key to a healthy, happy cat tomorrow. A diet high in protein is essential to the growth and health of an active kitten. We encourage you to serve a premium food to ensure your kitten is getting the right amount of protein and other nutrients it needs. Always keep your kittens water clean to prevent harmful bacteria from forming. Use heavy dishes made of plastic, ceramic or stainless steel to keep your kitten from spilling its food or water.
The Litter Box. Kittens are naturally clean animals. Instinct will lead them to a litter box. Because they do like things clean, you may consider using a clumping cat litter. The clumps are easily scooped out, so everyday cleaning only takes a minute. This not only creates a healthier environment for your kitten, but reduces embarrassing household odor. Using a covered box will also reduce odor and provide your kitten with privacy. And remember, if you have more than one kitten or cat, you may need more than one box.
Play Time. Kittens are naturally curious and energetic. Youll want to select toys that you can play with together as well as toys that kitty can play with alone. Scratching is the natural way cats keep their claws in good condition, so dont expect to train your kitten not to do it. The few dollars you invest in a scratching post or cat condo will be well worth it compared to the cost of replacing your couch or favorite chair. Your kitten may not like every toy you give it so be prepared to experiment (Hint: Catnip toys are very popular!).
Bedtime. Sleep is very important for a kittens good health. It may seem they sleep often, this is just napping (thus the expression catnap).
